July 17: Inside Passage

We slept in a bit today. The gentle motion of the ferry and the drone of the engines were soothing. The day is once again very clear. Temperature is about 70. It's a tad chilly if you stand outside in the breeze.

The scenery continues to be beautiful. We spent a lot of time in the Forward Lounge reading and listening to lectures. We're supposed to have no trouble seeing bald eagles and humpback whales as we get near Ketchikan. We're still in British Columbia today.

We briefly left the Inside Passage and were in open waters. I put on a motion sickness patch but the water wasn't any rougher. I was pretty sleepy but I'm not sure if that was the patch or not. We had a light breakfast in the Snack Bar. Cereal and a muffin. We ate lunch there, too. Dinner was an all-you-can eat buffet for $16. We had several differnt types of seafood and some roast beef.

The captain took a slight detour past a small village.
